Make life your prayer

Pray constantly (1 Thessalonians 5:17; NIV).

1. Make life your prayer,
And prayer, your life –
Then Christ will guide you
On his way.

2. Make work your prayer,
And prayer your work –
Then he will teach you
What to say.

3. Make rest your prayer,
And prayer, your rest –
Then Christ will help you
To forgive.

4. Make love your prayer,
And prayer your love –
Then he will show you
How to live.

I give myself to prayer (Psalm 109:4; NKJV).

  • An excellent description of the life dedicated to prayer. Such a life is so often misunderstood and misrepresented, yet it is really quite simple. Prayer needs neither a specific place or stance! It is an attitude, a way of living ones life in constant contact with the Almighty no matter where we are or what time it is. What an amazing compassionate Father our God is, who doesn’t keep office hours and is always available!

  • As I read this lovely poem, I though about the Apostle Paul’s admonition to, “Pray without ceasing.” I’ve always thought to myself, “How is this possible?!,” but you have explained it! Prayer IS the work! Amen, sister.

    • Smiling! Many thanks, David. I hope you are feeling somewhat relieved about the election result, and that your country will manage a smooth, quiet transfer of power. Thinking of you, and of you all, and praying for peace XXXXX
