When I wake

We are the temple of the living God (2 Corinthians 6:16; NLT).

When I wake, I join my hands,
For God is there, within,
Hearing every word I say,
Forgiving every sin.
He comforts me in loneliness;
He shares my fear and pain:
So, when I wake, I join my hands,
And talk with God again.

Every day, God speaks to me:
For Yahweh is my soul,
My origin, my life, my breath,
My Teacher, and my goal.
So, when I wake, I turn to him,
Then greet him, and rejoice:
For, when I join my hands in prayer,
I hear God’s silent voice.

Then the Lord said: Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord; the Lord will pass by. There was a strong and violent wind rending the mountains and crushing rocks before the Lord – but the Lord was not in the wind; after the wind, an earthquake – but the Lord was not in the earthquake; after the earthquake, fire – but the Lord was not in the fire; after the fire, a light silent sound (1 Kings 19:11-12; NAB).

After the fire came a still, small voice (1 Kings 19:12; BSB).

The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks (Psalm 50:1; CSB).
