Hello to all readers. Today’s prayer has a story behind it. Earlier this year I had to see a hospital consultant about a longstanding throat problem. At the back of my mind, I thought it might be cancer. I felt very calm about it, and was completely prepared for bad news. In fact, I was looking forward keenly to being united with God, and not having to wrestle with the hurts of life any more. When I was told it was it wasn’t serious, I had to face up to how bitterly disappointed I was not to be heading for an early death. The hardest part of the whole thing was being honest with my husband about it all, but I felt better after finding a new way ahead, as expressed in today’s prayer…
Ready
- If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord (Romans 14:8; NIV).
- …I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands (Psalm 31:14-15).
- The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised (Job 1:21).
- Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me (Psalm 23:4).
Father,
Thank you for loving me.
Thank you for my faith,
For I am nothing without you.
You give to me, and you take away.
Blessed is your holy name.
Whatever your will for me,
I accept it.
While you want me to live,
I will live for you.
When you want me to die,
I will die for you.
At death,
I will be reunited with you at last.
Thank you, Lord, for being with me,
In life, in death,
And for all eternity.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
