The Sorrowful Mysteries

I made this Rosary page because I find it easier to remember the subject of each decade if I have pictures to remind me. I hope it will help you, too. The Sorrowful Mysteries are said on Tuesdays and Fridays.

1. The Agony in the Garden

He went on a little farther and fell to the ground. He prayed that, if it were possible, the awful hour awaiting him might pass him by. “Abba, Father,” he cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine” (Mark 14:35-6; NLT).

2. The Scourging at the Pillar

So Pilate released Barabbas to them. He ordered Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip, then turned him over to the Roman soldiers to be crucified (Matthew 27:26; NLT).

3. The Crowning with Thorns

They wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head, and they placed a reed stick in his right hand as a scepter. Then they knelt before him in mockery and taunted, “Hail! King of the Jews!” (Matthew 27:29; NLT).

4. The Carrying of the Cross

Then Pilate turned Jesus over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus away. Carrying the cross by himself, he went to the place called Place of the Skull (John 19:16-17; NLT).

5. The Crucifixion and Death of our Lord

There they nailed him to the cross (John 19:17-18; NLT).
