Anxiety

Lord,
When I’m feeling anxious,
It’s because my thoughts
Are telling me
There’s something
To be anxious about.

Please help me
To sit with my anxiety
In meditation,
So I can observe it,
Understand it,
And accept it.

Then, Lord,
Please help me
To change my thoughts,
So I can be free
Of my anxiety,
At last.

Make peace

Blessed are the peacemakers (Matthew 5:9; NIV).

Seek peace and pursue it (Psalm 34:14; NIV).

Heal me, Lord (Psalm 41:4; NLT).

To acquire wisdom is to love oneself (Proverbs 19:8; NLT).

Lord,
Through my daily meditation,
Please help me
To make peace, at last,
With my depression,
My anxiety,
My memories,
And my self.

Through Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Returning

I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one (John 17:22; NLT).

The spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

Return, O my soul, to your rest (Psalm 116:7: ESV).

Lord,
I cannot reconnect with you,
For we are one.

Neither can I reunite with you,
For we are one.

I can only return to you, repeatedly –
For we are one.

I’m not my body

You will not leave my soul among the dead (Psalm 16:10; NLT).

There is […] one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all (Ephesians 4:5-6; NLT).

Lord,
I’m not my body,
Or my sensations;

I’m not my mind,
Or my thoughts;

Nor am I my heart,
Or my emotions –

For all these things
Will pass away at death.

Instead, I am my soul,
And my awareness –

Forever one with you,
And all creation.

I trust in you

I trust in you, my God! (Psalm 25:2; NLT).

You, God, are […] my God on whom I can rely (Psalm 59:17; NIV).

I cling to you (Psalm 62:8; NLT).

I will be a sanctuary to you during your time in exile (Ezekiel 11:16; NLT).

The spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

Father,
I trust in you,
Rely on you,
And cling to you,

For I’m part of you,
In exile,
Here on earth,

And to you
I will return,
When life is done.

Meditation

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NIV).

God [is] the source of all my joy (Psalm 43:4; NLT).

God is love (1 John 4:16; NIV).

Remain in me, and I will remain in you (John 15:4; NLT).

Lord,
During meditation,
Please help me to let go

Of everything
But peace,

Everything
But joy,

Everything
But love,

And everything
But you.

Peace

Seek peace and pursue it (Psalm 34:14; NIV).

Guide our feet into the path of peace (Luke 1:79; NLT).

I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart (John 14:27; NLT).

Peace is here –
Your peace within.

Peace my goal –
Your peace within.

Peace is now –
Your peace within.

Peace, my soul –
Your peace within.

Birthright

The Lord is peace (Judges 6:24; NLT).

I am leaving you with a gift – peace of heart and mind (John 14:27; NLT).

Lord,
During meditation,
May I bypass
All my disturbing memories
And anxious trains of thought,

Returning, instead,
To the inner peace
You gave me
As my birthright.

Source

God [is] the source of all my joy (Psalm 43:4; NLT).

I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb (Jeremiah 1:5; NLT).

Remain in me, and I will remain in you (John 15:4; NLT).

The dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7; NIV).

Lord,
You are the source
Of all joy,
And peace,
And love.

We come from you,
Remain in you,
Then return to you,
At death.

Thank you so much
For our eternal unity
With you.

Incense

I wait quietly before God (Psalm 62:1; NLT).

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord (Zephaniah 1:7; NIV).

All around the world they offer sweet incense […] in honour of my name (Malachi 1:11; NLT).

Lord,
As I wait
Before you,
May my prayers
Rise up
In silence,
Like sweet incense.
