Your breath is my soul

You formed me, Father,
Then I came to birth.

The cord was cut –
Survival was my goal.

You breathed the breath of life
Into my body,

And thus your Spirit, Lord,
Became my soul.

May I always know
Your Spirit’s presence;

May I pray in him
Till my last breath.

Then my bones will go back
To the dust, Lord,

But my soul will merge with you
Beyond my death.
