The Lord gave me what I had,
and the Lord has taken it away

Lord,
1. Give me back my joy again:
Please let me share your grace
And peace.
2. Give me back my health again,
So I can serve you
Without cease.
3. Give me back all I have lost,
For then my trials
Won’t seem so long,
4. But if you don’t, Lord,
I’ll accept your will,
For when I’m weak, I’m strong.

This is one of the really hard issues in our prayer walk with God. Seeking His face concerning a health problem, asking for Him to remove the problem. Yet having the peace to accept a delay or maybe a “no” is the true depth of one’s faith. Our Father God is compassionate and perfectly wise, as hard as it may be we need to trust Him.
You were awake very late last night, Alan, so I hope you got some sleep in the end. Thank you so much for your wise comments. It can take me a few days to accept each new health issue, but God is so good and kind. Our bodies inevitably wear out, but by bit, sooner or later, but our hearts can still be full of joy. Serving him becomes more of a issue, though – I don’t know how I would manage without the Little Way of Saint Thérèse.
